Independence Day is a wonderful opportunity for young children to learn about India, its inspiring personalities, national symbols and the values of courage, unity and patriotism. At i-SKY Global Preschool & Day Care, Tondiarpet, Chennai, our little learners celebrated Independence Day through a colourful and engaging role play and national symbols activity.

🇮🇳 Freedom Fighters Role Play Activity

One of the highlights of our Independence Day celebration for kids was the Freedom Fighters Role Play Activity. Our children came dressed as inspiring personalities and freedom fighters, bringing India’s history to life through costumes and creative expression.

Children represented personalities including Rani Lakshmi Bai, Jhansi Rani, Subhas Chandra Bose, Mother Teresa and many other inspiring personalities.

Through this activity, children were introduced to important values such as courage, determination, leadership, kindness, sacrifice and service to others. Instead of simply learning names from textbooks, our little learners experienced history through role play, storytelling and self-expression.

👑 Rani Lakshmi Bai – A Symbol of Courage

Our little ones dressed as Rani Lakshmi Bai, the brave Queen of Jhansi. Her story helped children understand the importance of bravery, confidence and determination.

Role-playing such inspiring personalities encourages children to express themselves confidently while developing an early understanding of India’s history.

🪖 Subhas Chandra Bose – A Lesson in Leadership

Children also represented Subhas Chandra Bose, one of India’s most inspiring leaders. Through this role, our preschoolers were introduced to values such as leadership, determination, confidence and patriotism.

The activity gave children an enjoyable way to learn about an important personality while developing their communication and presentation skills.

🤍 Mother Teresa – Learning Kindness and Compassion

Some of our little learners dressed as Mother Teresa, introducing children to the importance of kindness, compassion, caring and helping others.

This reminded our young learners that being a role model is not only about courage and leadership but also about serving others and spreading kindness.

The children represented symbols such as the Royal Bengal Tiger, Lotus and Mango, along with other national representations.

Through this activity, children learned that national symbols are an important part of India’s identity, culture, heritage and natural diversity.

The Royal Bengal Tiger, India’s national animal, introduced children to India’s wildlife and the importance of protecting nature.

The Lotus, India’s national flower, helped children discover one of the beautiful symbols associated with Indian culture.

The Mango, India’s national fruit, gave children an opportunity to connect learning with something familiar and enjoyable.
