At i-SKY Global Preschool & Daycare, we believe that meaningful learning can happen through simple, hands-on experiences. Our little learners enjoyed a fun and engaging Leaf Plucking Activity, where they explored real leaves and practised carefully removing them from the stem.

This simple Montessori-inspired activity gave children an opportunity to learn through touch, observation and independent participation.

🌿 What is the Leaf Plucking Activity?

In this activity, children were given fresh leafy stems and a tray. They carefully held the stem and gently plucked the leaves one by one, placing them into the tray.

Instead of simply watching a demonstration, children were encouraged to do the activity independently, making it a wonderful Practical Life activity for preschool children.

✋ Developing Fine Motor Skills

Picking and removing individual leaves requires children to use their fingers with control and precision. The activity helps strengthen the small muscles of the hands and fingers, supporting fine motor development and pre-writing readiness.

👀 Improving Hand-Eye Coordination

Children need to look carefully at the stem, hold it properly and use their fingers to remove each leaf. This naturally develops hand-eye coordination, finger control and concentration.
